The Australian opal show circuit is a series of shows (mostly open to the public) that are run from April until August every year. It is a great way to travel around the country and see some of the most amazing opals and gemstones that Australia has to offer.

Lightning Ridge Opal Show

Lightning Ridge, home of the black opal is host to an opal festival which is held annually at the end of July each year. The dates for 2022 are 27 July –30 July 2022.

On display and available for sale is an amazing array of opal. The show attracts gem and jewellery wholesalers, jewellers, rockhounds and all those who are passionate about beautiful gemstones and jewellery from around the world.

The Competition

The IOJDAA also organises an International Design Award Competition every alternative year which attracts entrants from around the world.

The 2022 competition has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

 

The Gala Dinner

Held in line with the competition is a gala dinner hosted to celebrate the Design Competition and to pay homage to all entrants and winners in particular. Unfortunately, the Gala Dinner has been cancelled for 2022.
